이 후보 선거대책위원회는 충남 민주·진보 교육감 추진위원회가 선정한 민주진보 진영의 유일한 단일 후보인 이병도 후보가 지난 20일 ‘촛불행동 충남본부’와 충남교육 현장의 민주주의 가치 수호 및 올바른 역사 교육 환경 조성을 위한 전방위적 정책 협약을 전격 체결했다고 21일 밝혔다. 이번 협약은 최근 교육계 일각에서 우려를 낳고 있는 극우 성향 단체들의 공교육 진입 시도를 원천 차단하고, 충남의 미래 세대들이 올바른 역사 인식을 갖춘 민주시민으로 성장할 수 있도록 돕기 위한 공세적인 정책 연대다.

제시된 5대 정책 과제는 방과후학교 및 늘봄학교 내 극우 성향 단체 유입 실태 전수조사 및 즉각 퇴출, 학교 밖 아동·청소년 시설 위탁 운영 실태에 대한 민·관 합동 점검 및 강력 제재, 교육청 위탁 사업 및 보조금 지원 단체 대상 특별감사 실시 및 부정 수급액 환수, 충남 관내 공공 및 학교 도서관 내 독재 미화·찬양 도서 점검 및 교육적 조치, ‘12.3 내란’ 등 현대사 주요 사건 관련 민주주의 교육 및 계기수업 지침 마련 등 교육 안보를 강화하는 실전형 지침들로 구성됐다.

박경덕 촛불행동 충남본부 상임대표는 협약식에서 “우리 아이들의 맑은 영혼을 좀먹으려는 극우 세력과 민주주의를 부정하는 내란 세력이 신성한 교육 현장에 단 일보도 발을 붙여서는 안 된다”라며 “충남교육이 지향해야 할 더 큰 혁신과 미래 교육의 출발점은 바로 이러한 반민주적 요소를 현장에서 철저히 청산하는 것에서부터 시작되어야 한다”고 목소리를 높였다.

이병도 후보 역시 역사 정의를 사수하겠다는 강력한 결연함을 피력했다. 이 후보는 "이번 정책 협약은 충남 아이들의 올바른 역사적 가치관을 지키고 공교육의 정의를 바로 세우기 위한 시대적 사명"이라며 "앞으로 충남교육 안에서 어떠한 역사 왜곡 시도나 극우 이념의 사상 공세도 감히 발붙이지 못하도록 제도적·문화적 방어벽을 촘촘하게 세우겠다"고 강력한 의지를 확언했다.
