Family Federation for World Peace and Unification Becomes First Religious Organization in Korea to Obtain Integrated ISO 3700137301 Certification
International Recognition for Transparent Management and Compliance System
Visible Results Achieved Just Four Months After Compliance Declaration
Strengthening ESG Governance to Restore Social Trust
[Religion/CTN] Reporter Geum-Hyun Ga — The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (formerly known as the Unification Church, hereafter referred to as the Family Federation) has accelerated its large-scale organizational reform efforts by becoming the first religious organization in Korea to obtain integrated certification for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Anti-Bribery Management System (ISO 37001) and Compliance Management System (ISO 37301), according to CTN, Koreas leading internet newspaper, reported by journalist Geum-Hyun Ga.
The Family Federation announced on the 14th that it held an integrated certification award ceremony for its anti-bribery and compliance management systems, officially gaining recognition for establishing an internal control and compliance management framework that meets international standards.
The certification is regarded as significant not merely as an administrative achievement, but as a milestone that elevates transparency and ethical management within a religious organization to a global level.
In particular, the accomplishment has drawn attention because it represents tangible progress achieved within approximately four months following the Declaration Ceremony for Compliance Practices to Restore Social Trust held in January.
At that time, around 300 pastors and public officials from across the nation publicly pledged to uphold laws and ethical standards, after which the organization began comprehensive efforts to strengthen its compliance and ethical management systems.
During the ceremony, Song Yong-cheon, Chairman of the Korean branch, stated, This first-ever integrated certification in the religious sector marks a major turning point in responding to social expectations and becoming a more transparent organization. He added, We will continue to establish a thorough culture of compliance and ethical management so that we may become a religious community trusted by the people.
The Family Federation stated that the certification initiative focused on several core objectives, including enhancing organizational credibility establishing anti-corruption prevention systems advancing compliance management systems strengthening governance (G), a key component of ESG management and fulfilling social responsibilities.
To achieve certification, the organization systematically implemented a five-step process consisting of organizational environment and risk analysis management system design and development education and competency evaluation system implementation and internal inspections and certification audits.
Through this process, the Family Federation explained that it proactively identified and addressed potential corruption risks and internal management vulnerabilities, thereby establishing an internal control system aligned with global standards.
Observers within and outside religious circles note that this certification reflects a broader societal trend in which religious organizations are also expected to adopt corporate-level compliance and transparent management systems, rather than merely pursuing image improvement.
As ESG management increasingly becomes a core value throughout society, the Family Federation is likewise seeking to restore public trust through governance innovation.
The organization stated that it plans to continuously advance its compliance and ethical management systems while expanding social contribution activities and public-interest initiatives to further rebuild trust within Korean society.
