[서울/CTN]가금현 기자= 최근 영동대로 지하공간 복합개발 현장에서 철근 누락 사실이 확인되어 충격을 주고 있는 가운데, 김성보 서울시장 권한대행이 직접 현장을 찾아 강력한 후속 조치를 주문했다.

김성보 서울시장 권한대행(행정2부시장)은 지난 16일(토) 오후, 영동대로 지하공간 복합개발 3공구 현장을 긴급 방문해 지하 5층 구조물의 안전관리 상태와 보강 추진 상황을 점검했다.

이날 현장점검은 공사 추진 현황 보고와 함께 구조 안전성 강화 대책을 논의하는 자리로 마련됐다.

김 권한대행은 현장 관계자들로부터 철근 누락 경위와 향후 보강 계획을 보고받은 뒤, 시민들의 불안감을 해소하기 위한 고강도 조치를 지시했다.

김 권한대행은 "시민 안전에 대한 우려가 발생한 만큼, 문제 부위뿐만 아니라 구조물 전반에 대한 전수조사와 추가 정밀안전 점검을 철저히 시행하라"고 강력히 지시했다.

특히 그는 "현장 품질관리와 시공·감리 관리가 미흡했던 부분에 대해서는 반드시 엄중한 책임을 물어야 한다"며 관리 감독 소홀에 대한 문책 의지를 분명히 했다.

서울시는 시공사로부터 철근 누락 사실을 통보받은 직후, 외부 전문가 자문을 거쳐 즉각적인 보강 대책을 수립했다.

시는 기존 철근 대비 200% 이상 강화된 강판과 내화 도료 시공 등 구조적·외부적 보강을 통해 기존 설계치 이상의 축하중 강도를 확보할 계획이다.

또한, 이번 사태로 인해 시민들의 기대를 모으고 있는 GTX-A 노선의 삼성역 무정차 통과 일정에 차질이 생기지 않도록 국토교통부 및 외부 전문가와 긴밀히 협력해 공정 관리에 만전을 기한다는 방침이다.

현장 관계자는 "보강공사 과정에서도 품질과 안전을 최우선 가치로 두고 작업을 진행할 것이며, 구조적 안전성을 완벽히 회복하는 데 총력을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Immediately after being notified by the contractor regarding the missing rebar, the Seoul Metropolitan Government established immediate reinforcement measures following consultations with outside experts. The city plans to secure structural safety (axial load strength) exceeding the original design specifications through both structural and external reinforcements, such as fire-resistant coating and steel plates that are more than 200% stronger than the original rebar.

Furthermore, the city plans to manage the construction process meticulously in close cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and external experts to ensure that the schedule for GTX-A Samsung Station's non-stop passage—a project of high public expectation—remains unaffected by this incident.

A site official stated, "We will prioritize quality and safety management above all else during the reinforcement process and put forth our best efforts to fully restore structural integrity."

At a time when safety issues at construction sites nationwide have become a major topic of concern, public attention is focused on whether the missing rebar incident at the Yeongdong-daero site—a core metropolitan hub—can be turned into an opportunity for improvement through Seoul City’s decisive response.
