[사회/CTN]가금현 기자= 미래엔서해에너지(대표이사 송민섭)의 임직원 자원봉사단인 '한마음봉사단'이 지난 4일, '세계 환경의 날'을 기념해 장마철 집중호우에 대비한 당진천 하천가 및 인근 도로변 빗물받이 정화활동을 전개했다.
이번 봉사활동은 올해 장마철에 많은 강수량이 예상됨에 따라, 하천 범람과 도심 침수 피해를 선제적으로 예방하고 지역 주민들의 생활 안전을 확보하기 위해 기획됐다.
이날 한마음봉사단원들은 시민들의 통행이 잦은 당진천 산책로와 하천 주변 일대를 돌며 방치된 생활 쓰레기를 수거했다.
특히 집중호우 발생 시 원활한 배수를 방해하는 인근 도로변의 빗물받이와 배수구 주변에 쌓인 낙엽, 쓰레기 등 적치물을 집중적으로 제거하는 데 구슬땀을 흘렸다.
봉사단은 상가 밀집 지역과 저지대 등 쓰레기 투기가 잦고 침수에 취약한 구간을 중심으로 정화활동을 펼쳤으며, 실질적인 재해 예방 효과를 거둘 수 있도록 하천 전 구간을 꼼꼼하게 정비했다.
한마음봉사단 관계자는 “작은 쓰레기 하나가 장마철에는 큰 침수 피해로 이어질 수 있다”라며, “이번 활동은 단순한 환경 정화를 넘어 지역사회와 함께 재난을 예방하고 안전한 환경을 구축하는 데 큰 의미가 있으며, 앞으로도 안전한 지역사회를 만들기 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
