"Realizing Equal Education Without Barriers"... Lee Myung-su Launches Tailored Life-Cycle Education Network
Expanding support staff, modernizing facilities, and strengthening job links; "Special education is a constitutional right"

May 14, 2026

[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Candidate Lee Myung-su has opted for a direct approach to narrowing the educational gap by announcing the establishment of a customized life-cycle education network that goes beyond respecting the individual characteristics of students with disabilities to ensuring their economic independence.

On May 13, the candidate announced a special education pledge centered on expanding support staff and modernizing facilities. This pledge focuses on resolving the practical concerns of disabled students and their parents with a detailed design that covers social advancement after graduation, not just support within the classroom.

The core is to reinforce manpower and improve the environment reflecting the voices of the field. The plan is to significantly increase special education support staff to enable close-contact support for each student with disabilities, thereby reducing the burden on teachers and increasing the density of education. In addition, the candidate plans to thoroughly guarantee the learning rights of disabled students by modernizing aging special class facilities directly related to safety into smart environments.

Candidate Lee emphasized future design rather than simple charitable welfare and promised to significantly expand vocational major courses leading to employment after high school graduation. The intention is to build a virtuous cycle where graduation leads directly to economic independence by strengthening job-customized practical education in cooperation with local industries and related organizations.

Furthermore, in collaboration with professional organizations such as the Pediatric Diabetes Association, an "Integrated Education Harmony Program" will be introduced to break prejudices against diseases and disabilities. Through this, the candidate aims to break down the boundaries between those with and without disabilities and create a school culture where proper human rights awareness takes root.

Candidate Lee Myung-su vowed, "Special education is not charitable welfare but a basic right guaranteed by the Constitution. I will be a strong supporter responsible for the entire lives of children so that they are not marginalized because they have a disability."

This pledge will serve as a touchstone for inclusive administration that realizes the value of equality in education and embraces the socially vulnerable. It is expected that the independence of students with disabilities will go beyond an individual issue and become a key driver for the healthy growth of the local community.
