[천안/CTN]강현수 기자 = 천안시가 자주재원 확충과 선진 세정행정 구현 노력을 대외적으로 인정받으며 충남 최고 수준의 세무행정 역량을 다시 한번 입증했다. 시는 충남도가 실시한 ‘2026년 지방세정 종합평가’에서 우수기관으로 선정돼 기관표창과 함께 3,000만 원의 재정 인센티브를 받게 됐다고 18일 밝혔다.

충남도의 지방세정 종합평가는 선진 세정행정을 확산하고 시·군의 자주재원 확충을 독려하기 위해 도내 15개 시·군을 대상으로 매년 실시된다. 평가는 지방세 징수, 체납액 정리, 법인 세무조사, 세외수입 징수, 부실과세 방지, 지방세정 운영 등 세정 전반을 아우르는 6개 분야 27개 항목을 중심으로 엄격하게 진행됐다.

이번 평가에서 천안시는 도내 세입 기여도, 고액 체납자 징수율, 세외수입 체납액 징수율 등 세정 운영의 핵심 지표에서 당당히 1위를 기록하는 탁월한 성과를 거뒀다. 특히 빅데이터를 활용한 체계적인 체납 관리와 현장 중심의 적극적인 징수 활동, 납세자 편의를 극대화한 맞춤형 시책 추진 등에서 압도적인 점수를 받으며 시의 행정 혁신 역량을 증명했다.

김석필 천안시장 권한대행 부시장은 “이번 우수기관 선정은 어려운 경제 여건 속에서도 성실하게 납세의무를 다해주신 시민들과 세수 확보를 위해 현장에서 밤낮으로 최선을 다한 직원들의 노력이 함께 이뤄낸 값진 결실”이라며 “앞으로도 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 편리한 세무 서비스와 공정하고 투명한 세정 운영을 통해 신뢰받는 지방세정을 구현해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.

안정적인 세수 확보는 시가 추진하는 복지와 인프라 구축 등 민생 사업을 지탱하는 가장 튼튼한 버팀목이다. 공정 과세와 편의성 확대를 동시에 잡아낸 천안시의 모범적인 세정 행정이 도내 타 지자체의 벤치마킹 대상으로 떠오르고 있다.

[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Cheonan City has once again proved its top-tier tax administration capabilities in Chungnam Province, receiving external recognition for its efforts to expand independent financial resources and implement advanced tax administration. The city announced on the 18th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the '2026 Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation' conducted by Chungnam Province, receiving an institutional commendation along with a financial incentive of 30 million KRW.

Chungnam Province's comprehensive evaluation is conducted annually across 15 cities and counties to spread advanced tax practices and encourage municipalities to secure autonomous revenue. The evaluation was strictly carried out based on 27 items in 6 fields encompassing the entirety of tax administration, including local tax collection, clearing delinquent taxes, corporate tax audits, non-tax revenue collection, preventing faulty taxation, and tax administration operation.

In this evaluation, Cheonan City achieved outstanding results, proudly ranking first in key operational indicators such as local revenue contribution, collection rate of high-value delinquent taxes, and collection rate of non-tax revenue arrears. In particular, the city received overwhelming scores for its systematic delinquency management utilizing big data, proactive field-centered collection activities, and customized policies that maximize taxpayer convenience, proving its capacity for administrative innovation.

Kim Seok-pil, Vice Mayor and Acting Mayor of Cheonan, emphasized, "This selection as an excellent institution is a valuable fruit achieved together by the efforts of our citizens who faithfully paid their taxes despite difficult economic conditions, and our staff who did their best on the frontlines to secure tax revenue." He added, "We will continue to realize a trusted local tax administration through convenient tax services that citizens can feel and fair, transparent tax operations."
