"Lowering Kitchen Barriers, Raising Health"... Cheonan City Declares Dietary Independence for Men Living Alone
Recruiting participants for 'That Man's Table'... Tailored education from chronic disease prevention to health food practice
May 14, 2026
[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Cheonan City has set out to strengthen dietary independence capabilities to resolve chronic nutritional imbalances in men living alone and protect them from chronic diseases.
The Cheonan Dongnam-gu Public Health Center announced on the 14th that it is recruiting participants for the 'That Man's Table' program, which supports healthy eating habits for men living alone. This project is designed to foster the practical ability of men living alone—who are susceptible to chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes due to excessive sodium intake and irregular eating habits—to prepare healthy meals for themselves.
The educational process is organized into a systematic curriculum that combines professional public health administration beyond simple cooking practice. Starting with chronic disease prevention education, it includes a large number of practical menus that can be applied immediately to real life, such as setting a healthy table, preparing a balanced birthday meal, making low-salt/high-nutrition summer health food, and making healthy delicacies to stimulate the appetite.
The program will be operated four times from the 18th of next month to July 9th at the Seongjeong Health Life Support Center. The target participants are 16 men living alone residing in Cheonan, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by phone (041-521-5084) from the 15th to the 29th.
Park Hye-kyung, director of the Dongnam-gu Public Health Center, said, "I hope this education will serve as an opportunity for men living alone to deeply recognize the importance of healthy eating habits and find vitality in life," adding, "We will continue to operate diverse programs that reflect field demands for the health promotion of citizens."
Amid a surge in single-person households, dietary independence has become an essential agenda directly linked to survival rather than just a personal hobby. The customized meal support project presented by Cheonan City is expected to function as a practical safety net that resolves health blind spots for the socially marginalized and supports a healthy local community.
