경찰은 14일 오후 2시 천안시 동남구 병천면 소재 한국기술교육대학교 축제 현장을 찾아 학생들과 함께 마약류 이용 성범죄 예방을 위한 합동 캠페인을 전개했다. 이번 활동은 최근 젊은 층을 타깃으로 술이나 음료에 몰래 약물을 투여해 성범죄 등 2차 범행으로 이어지는 신종 마약 범죄의 심각성을 알리고 실질적인 대처 방안을 공유하기 위해 기획됐다.
현장에서는 학생들의 뜨거운 호응 속에 휴대용 약물 탐지 키트와 안심 보안 카드가 배부됐다. 약물 탐지 키트는 술이나 음료에 소량을 묻히면 색 변화를 통해 약물 포함 여부를 즉각 확인할 수 있는 장비이며, 안심 보안 카드는 불법 촬영 카메라를 탐지할 수 있는 휴대용 도구로 실효성을 높였다. 경찰은 캠페인에 앞서 교내 화장실 등 취약 시설에 대한 불법 카메라 설치 여부를 사전에 정밀 점검하며 빈틈없는 안전망을 구축했다.
아울러 캠퍼스 안심 소식지 배부를 통해 마약 범죄뿐만 아니라 교제 폭력, 스토킹 등 관계성 범죄에 대한 대처법과 피해자 지원 체계를 안내하며 학생들이 스스로를 보호할 수 있는 역량을 키우는 데 집중했다. 이는 축제 열기 속에 자칫 소홀해질 수 있는 안전의식을 환기하고 범죄 발생 가능성을 선제적으로 억제하는 효과를 거둔 것으로 평가된다.
이민수 천안동남경찰서장은 "대학생들이 마약이라는 위험 요소로부터 안전하게 보호받고 건강한 대학 문화를 누릴 수 있도록 범죄 없는 지역사회를 만드는 데 모든 치안 역량을 집중하겠다"고 밝혔다.

At 2:00 PM on the 14th, the police visited the festival site of Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH) in Byeongcheon-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, to conduct a joint campaign with students to prevent drug-facilitated sexual crimes. This activity was designed to raise awareness about the seriousness of new drug crimes, where drugs are secretly put into alcohol or drinks targeting young people leading to secondary crimes, and to share practical response plans.
During the campaign, portable drug detection kits and security cards were distributed amidst great enthusiasm from students. The drug detection kit is a device that can immediately confirm the presence of drugs through color changes when a small amount is applied to alcohol or drinks. The portable security card also enhanced effectiveness as a tool to detect illegal cameras. Prior to the campaign, the police built a seamless safety net by meticulously inspecting vulnerable facilities such as on-campus restrooms for illegal cameras.
Furthermore, by distributing the "Campus Safety Newsletter," the police focused on building students' capacity to protect themselves by providing information on how to handle relationship crimes such as dating violence and stalking, as well as victim support systems. Chief Lee Min-su of the Cheonan Dongnam Police Station stated, "We will concentrate all our policing capabilities on creating a crime-free community so that university students can be safely protected from the risks of drugs and enjoy a healthy university culture."
In a reality where campus festivals, which should be full of youth romance, become targets of crime, this preemptive response by the police has become an important milestone in increasing trust in local security.
