"Young Heroes Guarding the Golden Hour"... Cheonan Seobuk Fire Station Conducts CPR Training at Buldang Elementary
Enhancing Emergency Response Through Hands-on CPR Practice... Concurrent Spring Fire Prevention Campaign
May 14, 2026
[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Young students have been reborn as safety guardians of the local community by personally experiencing the "4-minute miracle" that saves lives in emergencies.
At 9:00 AM on the 14th, the Cheonan Seobuk Fire Station visited Buldang Elementary School in Cheonan to conduct CPR training and spring fire prevention promotional activities for 5th-grade students. This training was designed to practically improve students' ability to handle emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest and to establish basic safety awareness during the high-fire-risk spring season.
Moving beyond simple theory, the fire station focused on repetitive practice so that students could maintain composure in real situations. Students learned the value of respecting life by systematically mastering steps from checking consciousness and breathing to performing chest compressions in the correct position when a cardiac arrest patient is found. In particular, the active participation of students, sweating as they pressed on mannequins with their small hands, proved the intense enthusiasm at the scene.
Additionally, in consideration of the seasonal characteristics where fire risks are high due to dry weather, education on fire prevention rules in daily life was also conducted. The fire station emphasized the importance of installing residential fire-fighting facilities and distributed promotional fans containing fire prevention slogans to naturally draw interest from students and staff.
Chief Choi Gil-jae stated, "We will continue to expand hands-on safety education so that young students can respond correctly without panic during emergencies," and urged, "The active interest and practice of citizens are more important than anything else for spring fire prevention."
Safety rules learned in childhood become a lifelong asset. This training is expected to serve as a precious foundation for children to grow into courageous citizens who save others' lives in critical situations.
